Aura threw her mass of hair in to a messy bun atop her head. “I understand. Magic isn’t something you can just sort of throw together overnight. Which, by the way, I never explained to you how I got locked up,” she said with a glimmer in her eye. “These people didn’t take to kindly to the, uh..incident at my school and when I was going home they started questioning me. I was scared. I didn’t get to say much, but as soon as one of that guy Coulson’s men tried to handcuff me, and this is crazy, but some kind of..light came from my hands and struck him down. It was intense,” she continued. Aura finally had some energy back in her voice.
“I’m sorry,” she blushed, “I’m talking really fast aren’t I?” Being around Loki Odinson made Aura Denning happier than she had been in years. She wanted to know him. She wanted him to know her, something she did not let happen every day. It was truly remarkable how he could change her mood so quickly. “I think you could learn to create life,” she stated, “You’re intelligent. I can see that.”
The girl threw her bag over her shoulder and they began to walk back toward the city. She was surprised she hadn’t heard any sirens or alarms, Surely they know I’m gone by now.
Agent Barton had seen the whole event transpire from the rooftop. “Sir, I’ve got a visual. Its her,” he said in to his watch. Nick Fury, the director of S.H.I.E.L.D replied, “Let her go Barton. We got what we needed.”
“Loki,” she added with a tinge of sweetness in her voice, “Thank you.” Aura stood on her tip toes, the God of Lies was much taller than her, and kissed his cheek.
“This was all my fault?” Loki frowned and tried to shake off the guilt that was knotting itself up in his chest. Because of his little display in the classroom, SHIELD had come to apprehend Aura no sooner did he disappear. Of course he was not responsible for her sudden discovery of new powers or anything that followed but still. He was one for causing mischief, not causing actual pain and suffering.
The second she reached up to kiss him, however, all of his guilt melted away. Loki Odinson flushed red and waved his arms dismissively at her, his usually calm voice suddenly nervous and stuttering.
“Oh n-n-no trouble at a-all!” He slapped one hand to his forehead and mentally cursed himself for being so socially awkward around women. Where were Thor and Fandral to set him up with their debonaire ways when he needed them? It was a wonder he had ever been with anyone at all.
“Are you alright then?” he asked after gaining back the majority of his composure. “You nearly scared me half to death. Not being able to reach you these past few days was traumatizing.” Loki smiled down at her and tried to play it cool for a change.
“Your fault,” Aura laughed, “No not at all. They said they’ve known about me for a while..” Her thought trailed off as she listened to him stammering and a smile came to her face as she lowered her head. Aura had never been good with men, she had no confidence in herself, therefore she did not make it a priority to go after them. He’s cute when he’s all flustered, she thought.
“I’m fine,” she finally replied, “Wait..you..you were scared?” Aura’s face beamed with pleasure, it had been years since someone actually took the time to worry about her. Don’t you dare blush, she thought but her body and her mind were not in sync. Her cheeks burned red, “Traumatizing sounds a little embellished.”
The pair continued to walk in to Atlanta. Aura could not have been happier.
